BORN IN THE USA
SideSwipe was developed by a Midwestern engineer and product developer who saw the limitations of the KitchenAid flat beater and knew he could improve the mixer’s performance. He wanted not only to reduce the need to stop and scrape the sides of the bowl, but also to introduce a folding motion that would fully and quickly incorporate ingredients.
The concept for SideSwipe was born in 2005, and after development and testing, was launched in 2007. We were awarded patents for SideSwipe in the US, Canada, Australia and Europe and have made small and large improvements to our product through the years. We’re into the second generation of SideSwipe, and it’s better than ever at delivering hand-mixed quality without the effort.
BI-DIRECTIONAL MIXING… It’s All About The Fins
The key to SideSwipe’s effectiveness is its tough, super-flexible silicone wiping fins. The fins are tapered to softly swipe against the bowl in a horizontal motion. At the same time, the fins’ angled positions create a downward flow, folding ingredients into and through the mixture as the beater travels around the bowl. The gaps between fins allow bigger ingredients to flow through and reduce drag.
The materials used for SideSwipe were chosen for strength, durability and ease of cleaning. SideSwipe offers a heavy-duty reinforced nylon frame; a stable aluminum attachment core; and alternating, angled wiping fins made from ultra-flexible, tear-resistant silicone. Our materials are BPA free; heat, stain and odor resistant; and food safe (of course!). Plus, SideSwipe is truly dishwasher safe — won’t crack or peel like other beaters.
SAFE TO USE
SideSwipe has been thoroughly tested to be safe to use on your mixer. Wattage draws are within the normal range, typically less than when mixing bread dough. And because SideSwipe reduces mixing time by 30 – 50 percent, it works the motor for less time than your traditional flat beater.
